Botanical Name: Salvia leucantha Velour Pink

Variety Profile

A colour break from the very popular and reliable salvia species commonly used in low water, low maintenance landscaping.
Traditionally a royal purple we now have a clear pink colour. Individual flowers are delightfully felted in texture making them particularly interesting to children. Like most salvias (or sages as commonly known) the foliage is aromatic and forms a clump. Suckers form from base each new growing season slowly increasing clump size. Flowers mainly in spring and autumn. Ideal for windy coastal zones as well as inner city areas where it tolerates pollution levels better than most plants.

Cultural Care

Grows well in most soil types which are well draining. Low maintenance once established. Tolerates dry conditions well but should be given an occasional long soak during extended periods of heat.
Apply a slow release fertiliser in spring to encourage profuse flowering.
Prune back hard in early spring to remove old stems revealing new growth.
